Auriane arrives looking none the worse for wear with a handful or grogs and Zorya.  (OK, so what's the situation here?  I haven't been following the thread to this point. Both magi are injured?)
You say "okay, there are 10 of you at the cave now:  4 magi, Sir Richard, and five grogs"

You say "well, the Adventure Boys got ambushed by bandits, and Stefanos was nearly killed."
Zorya says "They managed to heals themselfes with a dur: sun version of CHT"
Stefanos says "If I didn't have every bandit on the planet aiming arrows at me, maybe I'd be better!"
You say "It was _one_ bandit with a bow, Stefanos :)"
Stefanos says "no... there were 3!"
You say "but only one had a bow ;)"
You say "anyway you're outside a cave with a very powerful magic aura"
Auriane *casts cure light wounds and... oh, wait, wrong game. ;)
Zorya says "It was two. Only the second got glued to the ground before they hit."
Stefanos says "the first time... what about the 2nd ambush... What kkind of fool falls into the same trap twice! "
Stefanos says "I still can't stomach that!"
Zorya says "Bandits with Mythic Hideing... "
You say "well once yo'ure well enough to eat solid foods maybe youc an, Stef"

You say "okay, what do you guys do outside the cave"

Zorya says "Tend the wounds again after sundown."
Auriane gives a grim look at Stefanos' condition and orders her elder grog, a man looking in his mid-40s, weathered and compentent, to examine Stefanos. "He can bind your wounds at least," she explains to him, "as I am not skilled in Corpus."
You say "near Sundown"
Stefanos says "I am skilled in Corpus, Aurianne"
Stefanos says "Immediately after sundown, I cast CHT on myself"
Hora says " and Zorya should tend the wounds again. Shes maybe better than the grog?"
Zorya says "Wait, one-eye, let me first... Damn... "
Stefanos says "no, I'll wait... what do you want Zorya?"
<OOC> Auriane says, "If it helps any, Auriane's grog has a skill of 3 in binding wounds."
Zorya says "Just tend your wounds with some herbs before you heal yourself."
Zorya says "Speeds up the healing a bit."
Stefanos says "Ok... do it"
You say "well they arne't goign to heal while under the influence of the spell, anyway"
Stefanos says "but the wound will not exist till dawn...!"
You say "right"
Zorya says "Yes, but it will get the healing powers of the herbs in your body anyway. It should be worth trying at least. :) And stop gangrene."
Stefanos winces... "OK, do it!
You say "okay, Zorya puts herbs on the wound."
Zorya says "Well... I'll tend Horas and Stefs wounds and then ask Stef to cast CHT."
Stefanos says "is everyone done? Can I cast my spell now?"
Zorya nods.
Stefanos rolls the die, which comes up a 5.
Auriane tends to securing their area while others are being tended to.  Sending a few grogs to sweep the area, she confers with Sir Richard as to the status.
Sir Richard says "they were taken by surprise, m'lady"
Hora says " I was looking and hearing to the cave (OOC: I know that i am not better than Zorya but maybe something comes from it while we are standing there?)"
Nantos has left.
You say "no, it's ominously silent"
Hora nods.
Stefanos says "OOC: see, it's that 'ominous' part that I don't like"
Zorya says "OK, if you finished healing each other, could we get in?"
You say "if you want :)"
Auriane grunts softly at the news, glancing around the area. "Well, keep a sharp eye," she tells Sir Richard, probably unnecessarily. "Let me know if those grogs find anything out there.  I'd rather finishe this business and attend a guest back at the covenant."  She gives him a nod and leaves him to his job, wandering over to the other magi.
You say "okay, are you entering hte cave?"
Hora says " maybe i should cast a sense of the lingering magic first... "
Stefanos says "how well did my cht work?"
You say "roll it"
Stefanos rolls the die, which comes up a 6.

You say "now that Zorya's mentioned it, the cave smells faintly of burning."
Zorya says "Besides that, open fire blinds me..."
You say "Sir Richard is quite sure it's not a recent fire though"
Stefanos says "well then... it's OK if the rest of us are blind, so long as our eagle-owl here isn't" Stefanos sneers"
Sir Richard says "I'm pretty sure it's not a recent fire"
You say "what form are you in, Zorya?"
Zorya says "Human. I'm talking after all."

You say "well you walk into hte cave, and it's dark inside; you can't see."

Auriane merely rolls her eyes and peers through the cave with a thoughtful frown. "Well, we'll need light at least.  Torches?"
You say "a globe of what?"
You say "ignore that :)"
Stefanos says "if you hadn't insisted we bring all these mundanes and then need to make light for them, I would spont cat's eyes Zorya..."
Zorya says "Gimme a minute..."
Zorya approaches one grog and places her hands over his eyes... (if he lets her)

Auriane walks forward with wary steps, gripping her weaspon in one hand.  With the other, she gestures for people to spread out -- no point in clustering together.  As the request comes she,  she comments dryly, "Now you want light?"   A snicker trails into a firmly worde ignem incantation.

You say "okay, you see the walls now, and the ceiling--it really is an enormous cave"
Stefanos says "it's not that bright, Zorya. A few candles worth"
Zorya says "OOC: Yes, but it comes suddenly."
Zorya says "Any obvious exits except for the one we came in?"
You say "nope, well, the one place you can't see a wll is in front of you; the cave receeds into the distance"
Zorya blinks as her eyes get used to the light.
You say "do you keep walking forward?"
Hora says " yes cautiously i think"
Zorya says "Now, that's a big cave... Keep to the walls I'd say. Walk round once and look for exits."

You say "are you going to do that or walk forward?"
Sir Richard says "moves in front of the magi and moves cautiously forward"
Zorya changes to owl form and flies along the right wall.
Auriane gives the cave a quick glance over to familiarize herself with the unusually large cave and nods.  "Let us tend to this matter, a Quaesitor awaits us," she says.  Glancing to Zorya, "she gestures to her younger custos to take a jog around the perimeter of the lighted area.
MTKnife hmms.
Stefanos says "the quesitor can wait, Aurianne... Wait... what Quesitor?"
You say "okay, Neson goes running off toward the wall on the left side"
You say "anyway, while you're discussign hte Quaesitor Neson suddenly disappears; it looks as though he's fallen through the floor of the cave."
Hora says " i wave for Zorya to fly to the place where the grog had vanished."
You say "Zorya is still follwing hte wall on the other side"
Zorya did not see that.
You say "What next then?"
Hora says " OK i go myself, looking down onto my feet i follow"
Zorya says "If there's a hole in the floor on my side, I should see it. :)"
You say "no, you definitely don't see any holes"
Auriane curses as she and her remaining custos rush over to the area, though slowing down to watch for any sudden drops. Without yelling, fearful for such things as cave-ins, she calls. "Neson!  Neson, answer me!"
Zorya flies on, expecting to meet the grog half way round.
You say "okay, there IS a hole on the other side where Neson vanished; and you don't see the bottom."
Zorya says "How big?"
You say "just big enough for a grog"
Stefanos brings the globe of light over
Zorya says "Then it's big enough for an owl. :)"
You say "okay"
Zorya says "I did not say I dive in!"
Stefanos wonders if we can see the bottom now
You say "no, you can't"
Hora says " Can we see the bottom as we reach the hole?"
Auriane assumes her grog didn't answer?
Zorya says "Did we hear anything? The grog shouting or anything?"
You say "no, nothing"

You say "okay, Stefanos uses magic to lower his fiery glob into the hole...still no bottom is visible"
Zorya says "What do the walls of the hole look like?"
Stefanos moves the globe further into the hole
You say "there's a bit of Neson's clothes caught on an outcropping though"
Hora says " Uups a long way down..."
You say "and the passage curves"
You say "so eventually you'll lose sight of the globe if it goes further down."
Auriane glances around, muttering again. "No rope, I suppose?"
Stefanos says "Richard come here"
You say "that's odd"
Stefanos casts lift the dangling puppet on SR and lowers him slowly into the hole
Hora says "OOC: Poor SR... :-)"
You say "you can lower him about ot the point where you lowered the globe, but if you go farther and lose sight of him you can't control the spell anymore"
You say "he can see further down though--it's just more of the same."
Stefanos says "Can you see anything from there, Richard?"
Auriane crouches by the lip of the hole. "How steep is it?  Could he have survived?"
You say "another piece or two of clothing"
Hora says " let the grogs check the rest of the cave in the meantime Auriane"
You say "well it looks unlikely; it's a narrow hole though, so perhas he cold break his fall somehow"
Zorya rolls the die, which comes up a 10.

Auriane turns to Stefanos, "I think you'd best bring Sir Richard back up, he can do little else. I think I..."  She cuts off as Zorya casts a spell and is suddenly much smaller.
Zorya circles over the hole, obviously waiting for something.
Stefanos brings Richard back up
Zorya says "OOC: Auriane, you never heard me casting anything. :)"
Zorya dives into the hole. Slowly glideing down.
Auriane *erms. OK, sorry 'bout that.  Though if you called out a hoot and were suddnely smaller, that'd probably be something noticeable. :)

Hora says " is there a breeze from the hole?"
Auriane holds a hand out to give Sir Richard a hand as he emerges from the pit and gives him a nod by way of thanks for his 'volunteering' to go down and have a look.

Stefanos's globe comes up behind him
Stefanos says "OOC: well?"
Zorya flies out of the hole again and suddenly grows to normal size again - followd be changeing to human form.
Zorya says "Strange."
Stefanos says "What?"
Zorya says "A long tunnel. Some hundred meters. Ends suddenly. But noone in."
Hora says " maybe a hidden trap door at the end?"
Zorya says "Must be. But didn't find it."
Zorya says "No illusions anyway."
You say "now what?"
Zorya sighs.
Zorya says "No idea..."
Hora says " hmm, bad for the poor grog but i think we do not hop into the hole. maybe we first should explore the whole cave up here"
You say "while you're discussing this the hole itself disappears."
Zorya says "Right. Maybe another way somewhere up?"

Auriane clutches her fist in obvious frustration and nods to Hora's suggestion. "There may be some malign forces at work. If he's not down there, we won't find him standing around here. This cave goes on further and--" As if mentioning it were calling a spell, she blinks at the former hole's site, tapping it with her mace.  
Hora says " Hooo, yes...."
You say "what do you do next?"
Stefanos casts an InVi to see if there are any obvious sources to the spell that just closed the hole
You say "it fairly reeks of magic, yes."
Stefanos says "Anything to point to a source?"
You say "not really, no"
Stefanos says "Not Hermetic magic tho?"
You say "but it's very powerufl magic"
You say "no, not Hermetic"
Stefanos says "Ideas anyone?"
Zorya says "Look for other ways down."
Auriane glances to Stefanos for a forthcoming explaination for the spell he is casting. "We'll get him back," she is telling her elder custos, who, despite his customarily gruff manner, looks shaken and anxious. 
Auriane points to the end of the cave with her mace. "We follow on, see if we can't find the source of this. There's no other recourse."
Stefanos says "wait..."
Stefanos instructs two grogs to dig in the dirt where the whole used to be

Zorya changes to normal eagle-owl shape and searches the upper walls and ceiling.
You say "you don't find anything interesting."

Zorya expects to be busy with that for a while.
Auriane says "What is it you hope to find? The hole underneath?"
Stefanos says "actually, yes!"

Auriane arches a brow. "But what good would that do us?  Unless one of us were to head down there to see if it ends where Zorya says it does."
Zorya says "So what is at the top of it?"

Stefanos bahs and heads over to see where the rest of the cavern goes
Auriane says "* Is anybody armed with a bow?"

Auriane gives her head a hard shake at the Tytalus' non-answer.  She calls for one of the archers and requests an arrow and proceeds to mark the spot where Neson was swallowed by arranging rocks  and the arrow to point int he direction of the hole.
You say "well she's landed and turned bakc into human form and she's walking deeper into hte cave."

Hora says " i asked the fellow magi so i looked at zorya too"
Auriane glances towards the end of the cave where Stefanos and Zorya are and gestures for the others. "Let us go." she says tersely.

Auriane gives a barely suppressed sigh of frustration. "This is endless." she fumes. "Do we even know what we are searching for?"

Zorya says "Not really, Flambeau."

Hora says " we are searching for the "Spirit of the mountains" if it is here at all"

Zorya walks along the right side of the cave, hopeing to find another exit.

You say "okay, the cave isn't nearly as big as the last one, only 100 meters long or so, and there's antoher passageway at the other end."
Zorya says "...and nothing that somehow seemed interesting about this cave?"
Stefanos says "Zorya, why don't you fly over there and check out the other exit"
Stefanos says "Nothing else that is noteworthy?"

Auriane gives a look of steel to the tentacles. (BTW, what's the range of those things, that we can tell?"
Stefanos says "Anyone with any Te skills?"
Zorya says "Birds can fly with a hurt wing, but it hurts much. So they won't do if not for their lifes sake."
You say "Well, right now it's Far"
Auriane says "It's reach is Far?!"

Zorya changes back to human form and casts a disgusted look at her hurt arm.

Stefanos says "Without vis it won't last, Zorya, but I'd be glad to try"

Auriane erms. I'm pretty certain it says that you can roll simple die in non-stress situation. Flawless magic lets you roll simple all the time, which negates the chance of botching. That's why it's such a high Virtue. :)

The Beast blinks its eyes and a gag appears on Stefanos' mouth.

Auriane approaches with a grim expression a little distance behind Stefanos and Hora. "I know nothing of spirits and stories, but let us end this toying.  Do you crave a boon, or did you summon us to here simply for your amusement?"
Stefanos says "ada girl Aurianne!"
The Beast says "These mountains are mine, as are the people who dwell here."
Stefanos looks at the dragon incredulously!
Zorya says "So? Who doubts that?"
The Beast says "You bring great power to my mountains, and that concerns me.  Do you understand?"
Zorya says "Not much power. And no intend to challange you."
The Beast laughs.
Stefanos says "for chrissake Zorya, stop groveling!"
Zorya says "I come for wisdom, I don't come for power."
Stefanos says "sorry, that was OOC!"
The Beast says "Certainly I don't fear your challenge"
The Beast says "But I do fear what you might do."
Zorya says "OOC: Sorry, Stef, that's the way Zorya is designed. It might be to polite but still completely in character."
The Beast says "I admire your determination in reaching my cave."
The Beast says "And therefore I'm prepared to tolerate your presence, so long as you do no harm to my realm."

Auriane crosses her arms beneath her breasts, stilling her anxious fingers to loose another spell, despite its futility.  "If you need not fear us, then why are you concenered with a handful of us who are seeking a refuge away? We neither dwell in nor on your mountains, nor do we have any desire to visit harm on any of the mundanes who dwell here."
The Beast blinks again, freeing Stefanos' tounge.
Zorya says "So... Tell us, if we overstep the line from lack of knowledge."
Stefanos says ""
The Beast says "Auriane, you most certainly do dwell in my mountains, even if only in the lower foothills."
Stefanos says "What could we possibly do to challenge your dominance over this realm, beast? What is it you truly want?"
The Beast says "My power may be great, but it has its limits.  I can kill you, but I can't watch you every moment of every day to prevent you from doing harm."
Stefanos says "then why have you not killed us, Beast?"
The Beast says "Therefore I want only your word that you will watch over these mountains as I would."
Stefanos says "we have made these mountains our home... why would we need your instruction to watch over our home?"
Zorya says "Lord, you know what I am, right? You know what I and my kind stands for, right? Do you really expect me to do harm on purpose?"
Auriane waves the distinction away. "If you know that much, then you would also know we have agreed to leave the inhabitants of here alone if they will do the same.  A fair trade, by any measure."
The Beast says "Yes, I know these things, and still I ask for your word."
The Beast says "Do I have it?"
Auriane counters with, "And do we have your word that if /your/ inhabitants take arms 'gainst us, that we reserve the right to defend ourselves?"
The Beast peers hard at Auriane.
Stefanos says "i give you my word that I will treat these mountains as my home..."
The Beast says "Aside from a few ruffians, they will not take such action so long as you do not molest them."
Stefanos says "what more do you want>?"
The Beast nods to Stefanos.
The Beast says "Good."
Stefanos says "I have conceded nothing to you, beast... "
The Beast says "Stefanos, all I wasked was your word."
The Beast blinks and restores Stefanos' gag.
The Beast says "Zorya, Auriane?"
The Beast says "Hora?"
Stefanos says "OOC: great!"
Hora nods his assent.
Zorya says "You have my word that I will protect and guide the nature of my home the best my knowledge allows."
The Beast nods.
Auriane holds a frustrated outburst in. "You know we have made an agreement to leave them in peace, we have chosen to secret ourselves away in an area few will follow, and you still doubt us?  I say again,we have struck our bargain. We will leave them unmolested so long as they leave us.  We have already sworn such to the lord of this land and under God, an authority higher even than you, Spirit."
The Beast says "Then giving me your word shouldn't be a problem for you, should it?"
Zorya says "I must confess my knowledge is close to none. If you want to share some of your ancient wisdom, that might surely help."
Auriane says "Nor should you accepting that I have already done so to God."
The Beast sighs.
The Beast says "please do me the indulgence of making the pledge to me personally.  I ask nothing else."
The Beast says "Well?"
Auriane visible recollects herself and attempts another side. "Let me say this another way. Should any of us molest your folk, you can kill us anyways.  If you do not, then the lord's men will ravage our home and kill our folk.  Sooner or later, our sodalis will hunt us down for breaking our Oaths.  Bah, if you must.  I give my word to you to uphold the agreement which I have sworn. 
The Beast nods
The Beast says "Good."
The Beast says "And let each of you know that I will hold you to the spirit of your pledge as well as its letter."
Zorya nods.
The Beast hands Zorya a large diamond.
Zorya looks at the stone in wonder.
Zorya says "Hooo.... "
The Beast says "Come back to my cave each spring after the first flowers bloom, and I will give you a smaller one like that one."
Zorya says "Oh... well... Thank you...."
Auriane glances at the diamond somewhat suspiciously. "To what end?"
The Beast smiles.
Zorya attempts another bow but fails.
You say "The surroundings disappear and you're outside the cave once more.  Dawn is breaking."
Zorya says "Grmpf... I wanted to ask some more questions.... "
You say "the wounds that you suffered inside are gone, and Neson is returned to you, along with the minds of the other two grogs."
Zorya says "THAT is good news (and one of the questions i was going to ask...)"
MTKnife smiles.
Stefanos cries out in pain and falls to a crumpled heap, bleeding from a dozen different places
Stefanos says "UInless you didn't notice *I* asked!"
Auriane glances around in startlement, looking for her missing grog and looking relieved.  She clasps his forearms and sees that the other two are similarily restored. "What a disagreeable experience." she remarks to nobody in particular.

Stefanos says "Hmmm... OK"
